For my first full visit to Santa Barbara, instead of my previous brief stops through the town as I drove either up or down the California coast, I got a better understanding of Santa Barbara as a whole and of the different towns that make up the area. Santa Barbara is definitely a beach town, but I was still surprised by the slow pace of the town, and of the resident’s laid-back way of life. Out of all the towns that make up Santa Barbara, Carpinteria wins for smallest town.
Many people recommended Carpinteria for antique shopping, and while it is not necessarily my favorite activity, Carpinteria definitely has the adorable personality to match a place known for its antique shopping.
While in Carpinteria, I would recommend stopping at Nutbelly for lunch, strange name but delicious pizza. Plus, I would recommend having coffee and cupcakes at Crushcakes.
