I specifically remember hearing about the town Carmel-By-The-Sea back when the realty show, Mrs. Eastwood & Company was on TV. The show followed Dina Eastwood, who was married to Clint Eastwood at the time, and their two teenage daughters. I must have been the only person who watched this show during the summer of 2012 since it was cancelled after only nine episodes and I still have not found another person who has even heard of this show. Anyways, Carmel-By-The-Sea is where Clint Eastwood resides, but I did not realize until I visited the town that he actually was mayor for a handful of years. The town definitely has a love for Eastwood as you see his picture popping up in a bunch of places.
When I first heard that a town actually had the name Carmel-By-The-Sea I assumed it must be a magical place, and I was not too far off. There is a fairy-tale charm to Carmel-By-The-Sea, between the adorable inns and the cottage houses, you feel like you have stepped into a storybook. The main street, Ocean Avenue, is a good start for places to eat and shops, along with the side streets that branch off. My favorites include Carmel Bay for knickknacks, elizabethW for expensive knickknacks, Diggidy Dog for pet knickknacks, and The Soiled Doves Bath House for relaxing beauty products. You can also shop at the Carmel Plaza where they have more name brand stores like Kate Spade and Anthropologie.
The longer you walk around Carmel-By-The-Sea, the more you notice the different details that make it such an adorable town.
