Roadtrip From Denver To Vail, Colorado

This road trip was one of the most nerve-racking drives I have ever taken, and I was not even the one driving. I would definitely recommend a road trip through Colorado from Denver to Vail as you drive along highway I-70 West which takes you up and through the mountains that surround Vail, Colorado. I am not be brave enough to try driving along this route during the winter months, when the roads are filled with ice and the mountains are filled with snow, but if you are a daredevil or particularly good at driving on steep roads then you can go for an extreme drive. While there was no snow on the mountains during my drive, the scenery was still amazing and breathtaking.

The drive is nerve-racking due to the steepness of the road, and you will need a good set of breaks in your car on this road trip. This highway is also right up against the mountains and I was in awe of the size of the mountains and of being so up close to them(especially since I was born and raised in a state filled with flat farmland). This road trip was truly amazing and it gave me a much different perspective of Colorado instead of simply flying into Vail.

At times the road is so steep that they have “Runaway Truck Ramps” at multiple places along the road. It’s meant to stop a a semi-truck that is moving so fast that it needs a side path to slow it down instead of relying on its breaks. So, that didn’t make me feel nervous or anything…
